ABOUT
Newaza

The beginning is the most important part of the work.

Newaza Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Club was founded in 2013 from a shared dream between Professor Rogerio Sena and Professor John Romano to spread the art and lifestyle of Jiu-Jitsu in the Leominster and Fitchburg community. What began as small, friendly training sessions in Professor John Romano’s garage quickly grew. Within just a few weeks, the team rented their first location and invested in mats to create a better environment to train and develop the art.

The original vision was to build a close-knit academy focused purely on Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, rather than following the popular trend of becoming an MMA school. This focus on tradition, technique, and community helped the club grow rapidly. In 2014, due to the success and increasing interest, Professor Rogerio Sena expanded the academy into a larger facility.

Today, Newaza Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu continues to develop dedicated members and successful competitors who proudly represent its innovative and technical style. Over the years, the academy has expanded its schedule and introduced the Kids Empowered Jiu-Jitsu Program, helping shape the next generation through discipline, confidence, and respect.

Although Newaza has grown, the core vision remains unchanged since 2013: quality over quantity — always striving to provide the best training experience and personal development for every student.
